6. Install key (3) in key slot of camshaft (2).
7. Heat camshaft gear (1) on a hot plate, or equiva-
lent, to a temperature of 195 - 210F (90 - 100C).
WARNING
Severe burns may result in handling of
heated gear. Heated gear is very hot,
protective gloves and tongs should be
used for retrieval of gear and handling.
8. Position camshaft (2) in arbor press and align
camshaft gear (1) key slot with key (3) installed in
camshaft (2). Ensure that the timing punch on
camshaft gear (1) is facing down, and with suit-
able length of pipe gear (1) onto camshaft
(2) until seated against shoulder.
NOTE
Follow-on tasks include: Install camshaft
assembly (Para. 5-15).
