Turn the decompressron control knob (1) from the
operating position (2), through the neutral posi-
tion (3) into the start position (4).
WARNING
When cranking the engine, always
grasp the cranking handle with the
open hand. Your thumb should be point-
ing up and not wrapped around the han-
dle. Severe injury to your hand and arm
may result if engine fires unexpectedly.
Insert the crank handle (5) and standing to right
e
side of crank handle. Slowly turn the handle coun-
terclockwise with your left hand for four turns,
then rapidly four more times. The decompression
control knob rotates to the operating position (2)
after eight turns and the engine starts firing.

If the engine fails to start, repeat steps d and e,
above.

Set throttle to idle to prevent travel.

Place crank handle (5) in holder, twist grip to lock
in place.
2-6. OPERATING TECHNIQUES
WARNING
Do not allow any person to operate the
vibrating tamper for more than two
hours per day. Failure to follow these in-
structions may result in injury from vi-
bration exposure.
a.
Operate the compactor at full throttle for maxi-
mum compaction. The vibrator is engaged auto-
matically when the centrifugal clutch reaches
1800 rpm.
b.
Travel of compactor may be stopped by moving
throttle lever to the idle position (as indicated
when base plate ceases to vibrate).
