NOTE
The control plate (5) functions as a buffer
during engine shutdown, providing protec-
tion for the speed control lever (4). The po-
sition of the control plate in relation to the
control lever is important for shutdown,
and adjustment may be necessary peri-
odically.
1.
Control plate 5) is properly adjusted when lever
(3) is 45 +/-5 below horizontal. If lever (3) is out
of range, adjust the control plate as follows.
CAUTION
It is Important to hold the control levers
(3 and 4) in a fixed position while apply-
ing torque to the hex nut (1). Damage to
Internal components of the speed con-
trol shaft mechanism may occur other-
wise.
2.
Loosen the hex nut (1) enough to permit rotation
of the control plate (5) without disengaging lever
(4) from pin (10).
3.
Holding the control levers (3 and 4), rotate the
control plate (5) until the control lever (3) is 45
+/-5 below horizontal. Secure this adjustment
by tightening hex nut (1) securely, while holding
the control levers (3 and 4) in a fixed position.
