Test Step 1. Test for Open Start

1. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to OFF position
(TM 5-3805-296-10).
2. Remove start relay from fuse
panel (Figure 2).
3. Remove flood enable relay from
fuse panel (Figure 2). Install flood
enable relay on start relay
connector on fuse panel.

4. Turn battery disconnect switch and
ignition switch to ON position
(TM 5-3805-296-10).
5. At MSD, check for active
444-5 Starter Motor Relay Current
diagnostic code 444-5 Starter
Below Normal Becomes Inactive
Motor Relay Current Below Normal
Replace start relay.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
444-5 Starter Motor Relay Current
Below Normal Remains Active
Proceed to Test Step 2.
