Use caution when supporting hood. Use assistance during procedure. Keep clear of heavy
parts as they are raised. Failure to follow this warning may result in injury or death to

Eye protection should be worn when installing spring. Failure to follow this warning may
result in injury to personal.
NOTE
Hood weighs approximately 190 lb (86 kg).
7. Install spring (Figure 21, Item 7) on locking strut (Figure 21, Item 3).
8. With assistance, raise hood (Figure 21, Item 1) to open position (TM 5-3805-296-10).
9. Install washer (Figure 21, Item 9) and pin (Figure 21, Item 5) in boss (Figure 21, Item 2).
10. Install locking strut (Figure 21, Item 3) and strut mount (Figure 21, Item 8) on pin (Figure 21, Item 5).
11. Install washer (Figure 21, Item 4) and new cotter pin (Figure 21, Item 6) on pin (Figure 21, Item 5).
