NOTE
Hood latch should operate without effort to close.
6. Latch two hood handles (Figure 27, Item 1).
7. If one or both handles (Figure 27, Item 1) are hard to latch, continue to step 9 for affected handles
(Figure 27, Item 1).
8. Hood (Figure 27, Item 2) is not secured at one or both handles (Figure 27, Item 1), continue to step 15 for
affected handles (Figure 27, Item 1).
9. Open hood (Figure 27, Item 2).
10. Loosen nut (Figure 27, Item 5) one full turn.
11. Tighten nut (Figure 27, Item 3) moving cam (Figure 27, Item 4) to nut (Figure 27, Item 5) until tight.
12. Close and latch hood (Figure 27, Item 2).
13. If one or both handles (Figure 27, Item 1) are hard to latch repeat steps 8 through 12.
14. Hood (Figure 27, Item 2) latches are OK, open hood (Figure 27, Item 2) and bend tabs
(Figure 27, Items 6 and 7) up.
15. Open hood (Figure 27, Item 2).
16. Loosen nut (Figure 27, Item 3) one full turn.
17. Tighten nut (Figure 27, Item 5) moving cam (Figure 27, Item 4) to nut (Figure 27, Item 3) until tight.
18. Close and latch hood (Figure 27, Item 2).
19. If hood (Figure 27, Item 2) is not secured at one or both handles (Figure 27, Item 1), repeat steps 15
through 18.
20. Hood (Figure 27, Item 2) latches OK. Open hood (Figure 27, Item 2) and bend tabs (Figure 27, Items 6 and 7)
up.
21. Close hood (TM 5-3805-296-10).
