28. Using assistance, attach ring gear lifting bracket (Figure 10, Item 1) to ring gear assembly (Figure 10, Item 3)
at lifting hole (Figure 10, Item 2).
29. Remove six bolts (Figure 10, Item 6), washers (Figure 9, Item 5), retainer (Figure 10, Item 8), and shims
(Figure 10, Item 7) from ring gear assembly (Figure 10, Item 3). Discard shims.
WARNING
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use
assistance during procedure. Ensure any lifting device used is in good condition and of
suitable load capacity. Keep clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure
to follow this warning may result in injury or death to personnel.
NOTE
Ring gear assembly weighs 187 lb (85 kg).
30. Using assistance and using lifting device, remove ring gear assembly (Figure 10, Item 3) from tire and wheel
assembly (Figure 10, Item 4). Lower ring gear assembly onto cribbing.
31. Remove lifting bracket (Figure 10, Item 1) and lifting device from ring gear assembly (Figure 10, Item 3).
