E096 High Fuel Pressure -
Warning
This event code does not represent a fault with electronic system. This
event indicates high fuel pressure.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
EVENT CODE SET CONDITION
Engine ECM Detects Fuel Pressure At or Above 758 kPa (110 psi).
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Fuel Pressure Relief Valve Restricted/Damaged.
Fuel Return Line Restricted/Damaged.
WARNING
DO NOT perform fuel system checks, inspections, or maintenance while
smoking or near fire, flames, or sparks. Fuel may ignite, causing damage
to equipment and injury or death to personnel.
Allow engine to cool off before performing maintenance on fuel filter. Hot
metal parts can cause severe burns. Wear eye, hand, and skin protection
when working with heated parts.
Wear fuel-resistant gloves and eye protection when handling fuels. If
exposed to fuel, promptly wash exposed skin and change fuel-soaked
clothing.
Failure to follow these warnings may result in injury or death to personnel
or damage to equipment.
Test Step 1. Inspect Fuel System.
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to OFF position
(TM 5-3805-296-10).
2. Perform Fuel System Inspection
Fuel Return Line Restricted or
(WP 0165).
Damaged Replace fuel return line
(WP 0235) (WP 0443).
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Fuel Return Line Not Restricted or
Damaged Replace secondary fuel
filter base (WP 0225).
Proceed to Test Step 2.
