5-22. GENERATOR TESTING (CONT).
e.
Testing Main Rotor (Generator Field).
(1)
Testing Winding Resistance: Disconnect the two leads of the main rotor from the terminals on the
rotating rectifier assembly. Measure electrical resistance between the two leads with at Wheatstone
bridge or digital ohmmeter. Replace the rotor (Para 5-21) if the resistance is not as specified in Table 5-1.
Connect the rotor leads and tighten the terminals to 24 in-lbs (2.7 N.m) when reassembling.
(2)
Testing Winding Insulation Resistance: Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between either lead
of the main rotor windings, or the terminal to which it is connected, and the main rotor laminations.
Replace the rotor (Para 5-21) if insulation resistance is less than 1 megohm.
