When adding wraps of hose, be careful not to exceed the winding mechanism’s spring
capacity. Adjust enough wraps of hose to achieve the desired tension. Damage to the
winding mechanism will result if spring is over-tensioned.
NOTE
If necessary, adjust spring tension on reel by adding or removing wraps of hose from
spool, one wrap at a time, until desired tension is obtained. Add wraps to increase
tension and remove wraps to decrese tension.

Retract hose (4) on hose reel assembly (5).
NOTE
Install hose bumper assembly as noted during disassembly.

Install hose bumper assembly (3), two screws (1) and nuts (2) on hose (4).

Follow-On Maintenance:
Start generator, (TM 9-4940-568-10).
Start air compressor and check for leaks, (TM 9-4940-568-10).
