Priming High Pressure Fuel Lines.
Fuel is very flammable and can explode easily. To avoid serious injury or death, keep fuel
away from open fire and keep fire extinguisher within easy reach when working with fuel.
Do not work on fuel system when engine is hot. Fuel can be ignited by hot engine.
Pressure of the fuel in fuel lines is sufficient to penetrate the skin and cause injury to
personnel.
Ensure fuel tank is full of fuel (Para 2-16).
(1)
Loosen fitting (1) at injector pump No. 3 line (2).
When using the starting motor to purge the fuel system, do not engage it for more than
30 seconds at a time. Wait two minutes between engagements.
(2)
Start generator (Para 2-15).
(3)
Allow entrapped air to bleed at four injectors (2), until engine runs smoothly, tighten fittings (1) starting
with fitting closest to fuel injection pump (3) and finishing with fitting farthest from fuel injection pump.
