EVACUATION
000248
CAUTION
Moisture will combine with metals in refrigerant system to produce highly corrosive
by-products, such as iron hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide. These by-products will
damage the A/C system.
Moisture in A/C system can freeze and damage expansion valves and orifice tubes. Any
water in A/C system must be removed.
Failure to follow these cautions may result in damage to equipment.
NOTE
Recover refrigerant from the A/C system before replacing or repairing any components.
Note quantity of refrigerant recovered from A/C system to aid in installation.
If A/C system has lost any charge after a long period of time, refrigerant in A/C system
must be recovered.
Perform evacuating procedures to remove all air and moisture from A/C system.
Never completely recharge the A/C system without first performing evacuating
procedures.
If A/C system has been left open for more than 30 minutes, it has been exposed to air and
moisture. New receiver dryer must be installed.
1. Install blue low-side hose (Figure 2, Item 5) on suction (low) side (Figure 2, Item 1) of A/C compressor
(Figure 2, Item 3).
2. Install red high-side hose (Figure 2, Item 4) on discharge (high) side (Figure 2, Item 2) of A/C compressor
(Figure 2, Item 3).
3. Follow recovery equipment OEM instructions to evacuate A/C system.
