HOIST DOES NOT SPOOL CABLE PROPERLY (CONT).
Wire rope can become frayed or contain broken wires. Wear heavy leather-palmed work
gloves when handling wire rope. Frayed or broken wires can injure hands.
Never let moving wire rope slide through hands, even when wearing gloves. A broken wire
could cut through glove and cut hand.
Step 6. Lift the load (6) slowly to maximum height while observing the cable (4) spooling on
hoist drum (3).
If mis-spooling occurs, immediately lower the load and repeat up to 12 times. If the
cable continues to mis-spool badly, notify Unit Maintenance.
If cable spools properly, lift the load and lower it 12 times. Then, repeat the process
with no load attached. If mis-spooling occurs without a load, notify Unit Maintenance.
