BOOM OPERATION ABNORMAL OR DOES NOT TELESCOPE IN OR OUT (CONT).
Step 3. Visually check boom sections (3) for proper lubrication, bends, or other damage.
If boom sections require lubrication, lubricate in accordance with Appendix G.
If damage is present, notify Unit Maintenance.
If boom sections are OK, go to Step 4.
Step 4. Check for loose or leaking hydraulic connections and damaged hydraulic tubes or hoses.
Tighten loose connections. If leak does not stop, notify Unit Maintenance.
If tubes or hoses are damaged or other problems are evident, notify Unit Maintenance.
If no visual leaks are evident, go to Step 5.
Step 5. Abnormal boom operation may be caused by air in hydraulic cylinders (4). To remove air,
first remove load from crane (5). Then raise boom above horizontal and telescope out.
Finally, lower boom below horizontal and telescope boom in to purge air from cylinder.
If problem persists, notify Unit Maintenance.
