Cut and remove rectangle (4) from kingpin cover
plate. Enlarge rectangle as required to remove
kingpin.
CAUTION
Use care not to damage bolster plate and
crossmembers when removing kingpin.

Remove kingpin.

NOTE
l Refer to TM 9-237 for welding instructions.
l Ensure that collar depth of replacement kingpin Is the same as the old kingpin.
1.
Grind bolster plate smooth so that replacement kingpin lies flat on plate. Install and weld kingpin.
2.
Cover access hole with a 13 x 61/2 in. (33 x 16.5 cm) steel plate 1/4 in. (6.4 mm) thick. Weld plate.
3.
Install floor boards (3) on semitrailer with screws (2).
