NOTE
The procedure for left and right rear axle housing removal and installation is identical. Left
rear axle housing is shown in this procedure.
Use bolt and washer removed from brake shoe dust cover (WP 0339) to attach lift link to
rear axle housing.
1. Install lift link (Figure 5, Item 2), washer (Figure 5, Item 3), and bolt (Figure 5, Item 4) on rear axle
housing (Figure 5, Item 1).
2. Using assistance, attach lifting device to lift link (Figure 5, Item 1).
WARNING
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use
assistance during procedure. Ensure any lifting device used is in good condition and of
suitable load capacity. Keep clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure
to follow this warning may result in injury or death to personnel.
NOTE
Install rear axle housing as noted during removal.
Rear axle housing weighs 485 lb (220 kg).
3. Using assistance and lifting device, install rear axle housing (Figure 5, Item 1), 24 washers (Figure 5, Item 6),
and bolts (Figure 5, Item 5) on machine. Tighten bolts to 330 lb-ft (447 Nm).
4. Using assistance, remove lifting device from rear axle housing (Figure 5, Item 1).
5. Remove bolt (Figure 5, Item 4), washer (Figure 5, Item 3), and lifting link (Figure 5, Item 2) from rear axle
housing (Figure 5, Item 1).
