9. Install dial indicator base (Figure 31, Item 4) on cover (Figure 31, Item 1).
10. Install dial indicator (Figure 31, Item 2) on secondary steering pump drive gear surface (Figure 31, Item 3).
11. Lift secondary steering pump drive gear (Figure 31, Item 5) by hand and read dial indicator (Figure 31, Item 2).
12. Lower secondary steering pump drive gear (Figure 31, Item 3) and read dial indicator (Figure 31, Item 3).
13. Record difference in readings. Difference between readings is end play.
14. End play should be 0.001 to 0.007 in. (0.025 to 0.178 mm).
15. Remove cover and adjust shim pack thickness as required to achieve 0.001 to 0.007 in. (0.025 to 0.178 mm)

suitable load capacity. Keep clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure

Differential weighs approximately 1,000 lb (454 kg).
