Blackout Headlamp Does
Not Operate
Always inspect harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor
connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit.
Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure and that all
connections are in good condition. If a problem with the connection is
found, correct the problem and verify that this malfunction or diagnostic
code is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short-circuit test at each harness connection to identify
the correct harness to replace.
Tag all wiring harnesses to aid in installation.
Test Step 1. Verify if Other
Malfunctions are Present.
NOTE
If present, diagnose and repair failure of headlight, turn signal, horn, and
backup alarm before diagnosing failure of blackout lights. Failure to follow
this note may result in inaccurate diagnosis.
1. Turn battery disconnect switch to
ON position (TM 5-3805-296-10).
2. Turn mode switch on military light
switch to SER. DRIVE position
(TM 5-3805-296-10).
3. Verify if other lights, horn, and

switch on military light switch to OFF

Proceed to Test Step 14.

Do not apply brakes. Failure to follow this note may result in inaccurate
diagnosis.
4. Turn mode switch on military light
switch to B.O. MARKER position
(TM 5-3805-296-10).
5. Observe BO tail lights
One or Both BO Tail Lights Operate
(TM 5-3805-296-10).
Proceed to step 6.
Both BO Tail Lights Do Not Operate
Perform One or Both Blackout Tail
Proceed to Test Step 14.
