Exhaust System
0004
Exhaust gas exits the cylinder head into the exhaust manifold. These exhaust gases are routed through the turbo-
LUBRICATION SYSTEM
0004
Oil Pan
0004
The oil pan acts as a reservoir for the lubrication system. The oil pan collects oil returning from various passages
inside the engine and return lines outside the engine and provides a supply of oil to the oil pump.
Oil Pump
0004
The oil pump is a gear driven pump which is mounted at the bottom of the engine inside of the oil pan. The oil pump
is supplied oil by a suction line which runs from the bottom of the oil pan to the oil pump. Oil flows from the oil pump
to the oil cooler.
Engine Oil Cooler
0004
The engine oil cooler is supplied oil from the oil pump. The engine oil cooler mounts to the right-hand side of the
engine and is a fluid-to-fluid type cooler. Cooling occurs as heat transfers from the oil flowing through the engine oil
cooler to the engine coolant flowing past the cooling tubes. Oil flows from the engine oil cooler to the engine oil fil-
ter. The engine oil cooler has a built-in bypass valve which allows oil to flow to the engine in the event of a restric-
tion or low oil temperatures.
Engine Oil Filter
0004
The engine oil filter is supplied oil from the engine oil cooler. The engine oil filter removes impurities in the oil, which
may damage critical engine components. Oil flows from the engine oil filter to the engine and turbocharger. The
engine oil filter base has a built-in bypass valve which allows oil to flow to the engine in the event of a restriction or
low oil temperatures.
Turbocharger Oil Lines
0004
The turbocharger is supplied oil from the engine oil filter by a turbocharger supply line. Oil flows through the turbo-
charger and returns to the oil pan by a turbocharger return line.
