Top surfaces of all piston rings
are marked with the word TOP.
Piston rings must be assembled
with the word TOP facing up.
Failure to follow this procedure
could cause damage to
equipment.
If a ring expander tool is being
used, be careful not to over
expand the ring.
NOTE
The top surface of the top and
intermediate rings are identified
as illustrated. The oil control
ring can be assembled with either
side up.

Position oil ring expander (18) in control
ring groove of one of three piston rings.

Install oil control ring (15) on piston (6)
with end gap 180 from ends of expander
(18).
