6. Modify two 3/4 x 10 x 7 machine bolts to make front axle housing alignment pins (WP 0541).
7. Attach sling and lifting device to front axle housing (Figure 3, Item 3).
WARNING
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use
assistance during procedure. Ensure any lifting device used is in good condition and of
suitable load capacity. Keep clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure
to follow this warning may result in injury or death to personnel.
NOTE
Note position of front axle housing to aid installation.
Front axle weighs 485 lb (220 kg).
8. Remove two bolts (Figure 3, Item 1) and washers (Figure 2, Item 2) from front axle housing (Figure 3, Item 3).
9. Install two guide pins (Figure 3, Item 4) on front axle housing (Figure 3, Item 3).
10. Using assistance and lifting device, remove 22 bolts (Figure 3, Item 5), washers (Figure 3, Item 6), and front
axle housing (Figure 3, Item 3) from machine. Lower front axle housing onto flat surface.
11. Using assistance, remove lifting device and sling from front axle housing (Figure 3, Item 3).
12. Remove O-ring (Figure 3, Item 7) from front axle housing (Figure 3, Item 3). Discard O-ring.
