2-16. REFUELING GENERATOR.
When refueling, shut down generator. Ensure no open flame is near area. Never smoke. Never
add fuel with engine running. After fuel is added, securely close fuel tank cap; a loose cap can
cause a fuel leak or be a fire hazard. Before starting generator, check that no fuel is spilled on or
around FRS. Failure to comply may cause serious injury or death. Never overfill the tank or spill
fuel. If fuel is spilled, clean it up immediately.
Clothing fouled by Petroleum, Oil, or Lubricants (POL) must be changed at the earliest opportunity.
Any POL contacting the skin should be washed off as soon as possible. Failure to comply may
result in serious injury or death to personnel.
Fuel cap and fuel gage are enclosed in a confined space. Care must be used when refueling fuel
tank. Failure to comply may result in injury to personnel.

Remove fuel cap (1) on fuel tank (2).
Refuel generator with diesel fuel no. 2, JP-8, or DF-A only or damage to equipment may occur.
Leave at least 1/2 inch air space between fuel level and top of filler neck.

While observing fuel gage (3), fill fuel tank (2) until desired level is reached.

Install fuel cap (1) on fuel tank (2).
