4-36. FUEL SYSTEM BLEEDING (CONT).
Fuel is very flammable and can explode easily. To avoid serious injury or death, keep fuel away
from open fire and keep fire extinguisher within easy reach when working with fuel. Do not work
on fuel system when engine is hot. Fuel can be ignited by hot engine. When working with fuel,
post signs that read NO SMOKING WITHIN 50 FEET (15.24 m) of vehicle.
After changing fuel filter or performing maintenance on fuel system, fuel system should be bled
to remove air.
Loosen deaeration plug (1) using a flat tip screwdriver.
Prime fuel system using lever (2) until fuel flows out of deaeration plug (1) hole.
Tighten deaeration plug (1) using a flat tip screwdriver. Wipe off any spilled fuel.
Follow-on maintenance: Close right side access cover (para 3-5) and check for any fuel leaks
